Hare: Jamaica is getting better at crash analysis, investigation

Published:Tuesday | September 30, 2014 | 9:45 PM

The entity responsible for ensuring road safety in Jamaica says the country is becoming better at investigating and analysing crashes.

Director of the Road Safety Unit in the Transport Ministry, Kanute Hare, says the improvements in the capacity of the country are part of a three-year project.

For example, he says no longer are persons being wrongly identified as drivers of vehicles involved in crashes.

Hare says the exact speed of vehicles involved in collisions can now be determined by the Road Safety Unit.

Meanwhile, he says there are now more trained personnel to ensure a high quality of investigations.

He adds that the newly trained investigators are deployed across the country.
