HORSE RACING: Injured Jamaican jockey still hopeful of Breeders Cup ride
Jamaican jockey Rajiv Maragh remains hopeful about riding in the Breeders Cup Series, despite breaking his arm in a fall at Belmont in New York last Saturday.
He underwent surgery last Sunday to have plates and screws inserted to help stabilise the arm and was discharged from North Shore Hospital on Monday.
Speaking on online social networking service, Twitter, Maragh said he was still eyeing the big event at Santa Anita Park from October 31 to November 1.
Maragh’s agent, Tony Micallef says that doctors had given the 29-year-old a fair chance of suiting up for the Breeders Cup.
