KINGSTON, Jamaica:

Health minister Dr Fenton Ferguson is admitting that the country is not 100 per cent ready to tackle Ebola.

His comments follow an article in today’s Gleaner, in which several doctors at the nation’s hospitals said they do not have the necessary safety gear to treat affected persons should the deadly Ebola virus reach Jamaica.

The Health Minister says even with the best of will, the government is constrained.

The Health minister says there are some supplies on hand now.

However, he has admitted that the supplies are not available at all institutions.

He also says a major shipment of supplies is expected on the island shortly.
