Heads should roll over Spanish Town Hospital death, says NDM

The National Democratic Movement (NDM) says heads should roll over the death of a patient at the Spanish Town Hospital.

The man reportedly went to the hospital on Tuesday complaining about a stomach pain and remained in the waiting area until the next day.

It is further reported that despite appeals from him and his family for help the man did not receive any medical attention.

NDM President, Peter Townsend, says this is a tragic situation which must not be repeated.

Townsend further says the Ministry of Health should order a probe and take action against any individuals who are found to have contributed to the man’s death.

He says too often the lives of Jamaicans are put at risk by improper management and incompetency.

He says the health ministry must send a strong signal that this will not be tolerated in the health sector.

The NDM president says if health minister Dr Fenton Ferguson fails to address the problem then he should be removed from the job.
