PNP ratifies Erskine as Central Westmoreland caretaker
The Executive Committee of the People's National Party has unanimously ratified attorney Michael Erskine as its caretaker for Central Westmoreland.
The decision was made at its meeting yesterday evening.
Former Vice-president Dr Karl Blythe also had ambitions of getting the position and had raised objection to the selection process.
However, a release from the PNP secretariat says the Party's Executive was advised that among the measures pursued to arrive at a candidate was a scientific poll by a noted local pollster of good repute and excellent track record.
It was further noted that those results were consistent with a series of consultations among members of the Party's organisation in the Central Westmoreland.
The party says at the weekend a delegation of Party Officers including Party Chairman Bobby Pickersgill, met with members of the Constituency.
It says the results of the polls and other consultations were disclosed and accepted by all.
Erskine replaces the late member of Parliament and Agriculture minister, Roger Clarke.
