LIME dismisses claim 110 emergency number is inefficient

Telecommunications Company LIME is dismissing claims that the emergency 110 number is being operated inefficiently.

In a statement to our news centre, LIME said its current service level metrics show that 95 per cent of the calls made to 110 are answered within 20 seconds.

The company also says only an estimated one per cent of the calls are abandoned.

LIME says issues affecting the emergency 110 number are mostly due to outside factors.

According to the company, the 110 number receives high levels of prank calls as well as misplaced calls from persons seeking the police’s 119 emergency number.

However, LIME says the company continues to make arrangements to improve the service despite the challenges.
