The Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team and the Jamaica Constabulary Force Trans-national Crimes and Narcotics Division have seized a major shipment of guns and ammunition at the Port Handlers warehouse in Montego Bay.

Jamaica Customs says an electronic examination of a barrel showed something strange and so a more detail examination was conducted by the authorities.

This resulted in the detection and seizure of the following weapons and ammunition, yesterday:

*One Mossberg Shot Gun

*One Olympic Arms M16

*One AK-47

*Two M16 Magazines

*Two AK-47 magazines

*One AK-47 Mag drum

*One hundred and sixty four 9mm rounds

*Sixty AR 223 rounds

*Fifty PMC 44 REM rounds

*Six 12-gauge cartridges

*Fourteen .40 rounds

*Three .38 rounds

*One Super H round

*Seventeen 7.62 rounds

In total there were 315 rounds of ammunition.

No arrest has been mad but Jamaica Customs says the matter is currently being investigated by the Border Protection Unit and the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Trans-national Crimes and Narcotics Division.
