Police up presence in downtown Kingston after cook shop owner's murder

The busy downtown Kingston market district was the scene of a brazen murder this morning.



The police say 48-year-old businessman Stenneth Smith was shot and killed by gunmen along Heywood Street.



Smith operates a cook shop and is the father of six children.



Eyewitnesses report that Smith was walking along Heywood Street shortly after 8 o’clock when two men robbed him of his cell phone before shooting him once in the head.



There has been an increased police presence in the busy market district since the killing.
