Davies to meet police commissioner over highway security

Published:Monday | October 13, 2014 | 5:41 PM

Works Minister, Dr Omar Davies, says he will be moving to meet with the Police Commissioner to discuss security issues at the site of the North-South Highway.

In a statement, Davies said he was extremely saddened by yesterday’s attack on four men attached to the China Harbour Engineering Company - the entity developing the North-South highway.

He says the four men were shot as they transported the payroll for men working on the Ferry to Linstead leg of the North-South Highway.

It’s reported that the gunmen stole $1.5 million.

The Works Minister said the attack was a dastardly, cowardly act aimed at undermining the rule of law and order in the country.

Davies also said the security issues will have to be addressed.
