Opposition disappointed in delay to reconvene parliament

Published:Thursday | October 16, 2014 | 10:41 AM

The opposition Alliance for Change says it is disappointed that Parliament will most likely not sit on October 22 to debate a motion of no confidence against the Guyanese government.

The coalition has put forward the motion and has already received the public support of the major opposition grouping, A Partnership for National Unity.

The two opposition groups control 33 of the 65-seats in the National Assembly.

In a statement, the Alliance said the annual recess period of the National Assembly has already passed and it could not understand why the legislative chamber has not reconvened.
