McNeil meets with hotel stakeholders to discuss Ebola

Published:Friday | October 17, 2014 | 1:40 PM

Minister of Tourism Wykeham McNeill says he has met with members of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) to discuss the threat of Ebola to the sector.

He says he met with the group two weeks ago to discuss training hotel staff about how to handle suspected cases.

The Tourism Minister says while no official training has come from the ministry, the management of hotels have been passing information along to workers, sensitising them on what to look out for.

McNeill says ideally such cases will be caught at the borders.

As a result he says focus is being placed on ensuring employees at the nation’s airports are properly trained.
