Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz have now turned their attentions to Costa Rica after an impressive start to their final round campaign for a spot at the 2015 FIFA World Cup in Canada.

The Reggae Girlz achieved the perfect start against Martinique with a 6-0 victory in their Group B match of the CONCACAF Women’s Championship in the USA yesterday.

The CONCACAF event doubles as a qualifying competition for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The two finalists and the winner of the match for third place earn automatic World Cup berths, while the fourth-place team will face Ecuador in a playoff for another spot.

Donnakay Henry and Christina Murray scored two goals apiece for Jamaica.

The outstanding Shakira Duncan and second-half substitute Alexa Allen added a goal each.

As a result of the big victory, Jamaica have taken the early lead in the group and will now face Costa Rica tomorrow.

In the group’s other game yesterday, Costa Rica scored an early goal and held off Mexico to record a 1-0 victory.

Carolina Venegas connected in the ninth minute for the Costa Ricans.

The competition continues today with the second set of games in Group A matches at Toyota Park.

Trinidad and Tobago, who lost their opening game on Wednesday, will play early leaders Haiti in the opening match today.

That match starts at 5:30 p.m.

In the second match at 8 p.m., hosts USA, who are second in the standings, will face Guatemala.
