The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency says field operations officers seized 50 pounds of cocaine in a garbage bag that was concealed on a ship that arrived from the Dominican Republic.

The estimated value of the contraband seized on Friday is US$571,200.

CBP said officers conducting an inspection of the vessel M/V Conrad S, discovered the bag in a storage bin.

Packages found in the bag were examined and contained a white powdery substance that later tested positive for cocaine.
