233 Jamaicans receive National Awards
Some 233 Jamaicans were today recognised at the 2014 National Honours and Awards ceremony at King’s House.
Eight persons received the Order of Jamaica (OJ), for their outstanding contribution to Education, Health, Human Rights Advocacy, Public Service, Religion, the Legal Profession, Agriculture, and Track and Field.
Thirty-six persons were conferred with the Order of Distinction in the Commander Class (CD) and 50 persons received the Order of Distinction in the Officer Class (OD).
Forty-two members of the uniformed service, including the Jamaica Defence Force, Jamaica Constabulary Force, the Department of Correctional Services and the Jamaica Fire Brigade received the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service.
And 40 other persons received the Badge of Honour for Meritorious Service, while 53 persons received the Badge of Honour for Long and Faithful Service.
The ceremony was presided over by Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen.
