FOOTBALL: Costa Rica beat T&T in CONCACAF Women's Championship

Caribbean team Trinidad and Tobago was beaten 3-0 on penalties by Costa Rica in the first semi-final of the CONCACAF Women’s Championship in the United States (US) yesterday.

The teams had battled to a 1-1 draw.

Costa Rica will face hosts US in the final tomorrow. The US defeated Mexico 3-0 in the second semi-final.

By reaching the final, Costa Rica and the US have qualified for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

Trinidad and Tobago will play in the third-place match against Mexico.

The top-three finishers earn World Cup bids and the fourth-place finisher will have another chance in a match against Ecuador next month.
