West Indies Women are now preparing for the second of four Twenty20 Internationals against Australia in Adelaide following a four-wicket defeat in the opening match yesterday in Sydney.

The second match will take place on Wednesday.

In the series opener, Jamaican Stafanie Taylor hit a half century but it failed to lift the West Indies.

Sent in to bat, the West Indies Women were restricted to 113 for seven off their allotted overs, with Taylor carving out the top score of 52 off 54 balls.

Stroke-maker Deandra Dottin got 24.

And needing 114 for victory, the Aussies reached their target with seven balls to spare, despite outstanding performances from off-spinners Anisa Mohammed and rookie Hayley Matthews.

The experienced Mohammed claimed three for 25 while Matthews picked up three for 26.

Opener Jess Jonassen top-scored for Australia's Women with 46 from 51 deliveries and captain Meg Lanning stroked a run-a-ball 24, to lay the foundation for the hosts.
