CRICKET: Second Windies A One-Day match washed out

Published:Monday | November 3, 2014 | 1:22 PM

The second One-Day match between West Indies A and hosts Sri Lanka A in Dam-bulla ended prematurely today because of rain.

The match was reduced to a 38-over affair as a result of the rain and the Windies A were bowled out for 193 runs just one over shy of the allotment.

And just 13 balls into Sri Lanka's A chase, the rain returned and never stopped.

The hosts were 8 for 1.

Opener, Kraigg Brathwaite, led the West Indies A's charge at the top of the order, hitting 63 runs from 87 balls.

His knock included four boundaries.

Jonathan Carter and captain Carlos Brathwaite struck 39 runs each.

Nisala Gamage was the pick of the Sri Lanka A bowler, taking 3 for 36.

Farveez Maharoof, Jeevan Mendis and Dushmantha Chameera also had three wickets.

Sri Lanka A hold a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after winning the first match by six runs on Duckworth/Lewis.
