FOOTBALL: Second Manning Cup semi-final spot up for grabs today

Published:Wednesday | November 5, 2014 | 11:26 AM

The second semi-finalist in the ISSA/LIME urban-area Manning Cup football competition will be known today following the final set of Group J second round fixtures.

There will be two matches at different venues.

Over at the Constant Spring field, Manning Cup champions Jamaica College (JC) play out-of-contention Denham Town, while Holy Trinity and Excelsior face off at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Only a point separates the top three teams with Excelsior leading JC by goal difference.

Both schools are on four points following two games, while Holy Trinity are a point behind in third spot.

JC and Holy Trinity are the form teams in the group and they are coming off semi-final victories in the inaugural Super Cup on Saturday.

Based on the fixture, JC are strongly fancied to book the semi-final spot as they face a very poor Denham Town team, while Holy Trinity have a tough contest against Excelsior.

Both matches are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Wolmer's Boys secured the first semi-final spot on Monday after whipping St George's College 3-0.
