A policewoman had to be taken to hospital this morning after being attacked by a lone assailant.

The police’s Corporate Communications Unit says the policewoman was leaving her house in Duhaney Park, Kingston for work at 5:23 when she was pounced upon by a man armed with a knife.

The unit further says an altercation ensued during which the policewoman was injured.

Her attacker fled the scene.

The police’s information arm says the policewoman was later taken to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, it says it is yet to confirm if the policewoman had her service revolver at the time of the attack.

In the meantime, police investigators are still searching for gunmen who held up and robbed a Superintendent of Police.

The senior policewoman was robbed of her Sports Utility Vehicle this morning.

It is reported that about 6 o’ clock the police superintendent was at her house in Spanish Town, St Catherine when she was approached by men armed with guns who demanded her car.

The demand was met and the gunmen drove off with the vehicle.

The senior policewoman was not harmed in the incident.
