St James man on the run after police seize illegal gun, ammo

The St James police have seized a 9-millimetre semi-automatic pistol and 34 rounds of ammunition in Portobello in the parish.



The police say about 4:30 yesterday afternoon, a 22-year-old man of Cambridge Street, Portobello, brandished a firearm during a dispute with his brother at their home. A justice of the peace, who was nearby, managed to disarm him and summoned the police. The man fled the scene leaving behind the pistol along with 14 rounds of ammunition.



The police searched the premises and found a bag containing 20 rounds of ammunition in a room occupied by the suspect. He is now being sought by the police.
