Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls are returning home from the 2014 Fast5 Netball World Series in New Zealand without a medal.

The Sunshine Girls, who won the bronze in 2013, finished fourth this time around after losing the bronze medal match against England by a point yesterday.

England pipped Jamaica 31-30 to finish third after the Sunshine Girls led 24-19 going into the final quarter.

Earlier in the day, Jamaica had beaten England 27-26, but lost 35-10 to New Zealand in their final round robin fixture.

On Friday’s opening day, Jamaica lost the tournament opener 34-13 against Australia, before a close 29-28 victory over Malawi and a comfortable 45-20 victory over South Africa.

In the gold medal match, New Zealand beat Australia 35-31 to retain the Fast5 netball world series title in Auckland.

Jamaica’s netballers are scheduled to return home tomorrow.
