CRICKET: Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe in opening ODI

Shakib Al Hasan scored a century and claimed four wickets to lead Bangladesh to an 87-run win over Zimbabwe in the opening One-Day International (ODI) of the five-match series in Chittagong today.

Shakib became only the 12th cricketer in ODI history to claim a century and four or more wickets in a match.

Sent in to bat, Bangladesh scored 281 for seven off their allotted 50 overs with Shakib hitting 101 from 99 balls.

Mushfiqur Rahim supported with 65, while debutant Sabbir Rahman hit 44 not out.

Shakib then returned to claim four for 41 as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 194 in 43 overs chasing a victory target of 281.

Brendan Taylor was the top scorer for Zimbabwe with 54 while Hamilton Masakadza made 42.
