FOOTBALL: Jamaica to face Argentina at Copa America next year
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz will face Brazil 2014 World Cup beaten finalist, Argentina, at the 2015 Copa America in Chile, after the pair were drawn together in the group stage.
The Reggae Boyz will be making their first appearance in the South American showpiece event.
They were invited to compete at the tournament and, as a result, will be the first Caribbean country to play in the Copa America.
Jamaica and Argentina will compete in Group B alongside defending champions, Uruguay and Paraguay.
The tournament comprises three groups.
Brazil face World Cup quarter-final opponents Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela in Group C, while Group A consists of hosts Chile, Mexico, Ecuador and Bolivia.
Twelve teams will be competing in the South American event, which begins in Santiago on June 11.
After the round-robin group phase, the top two teams from each section will qualify for the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-placed teams.
The tournament then takes on a standard knockout format before the final on July 4.
