CAC Games: Busy day for Jamaica in Mexico

Four members of Jamaica’s small track and field contingent will be in action today when the 22nd Central and American Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico resumes today.

Raymond Brown will be the first Jamaican in action when he appears in the Shot Put final at the Heriberto Jara Atletic Stadium.

That final is set to begin this morning at 11:10 Jamaica time.

Brown enters the event with a season-best throw of 20.35 metres and should be in contention for a medal today.

Mexican, Christopher Saenz, also reached a distance of 20.35 this season.

The other three Jamaicans will try to qualify for the medal round in their events.

Samantha Curtis will compete in Semi-Final One of the Women’s 400 metres at 12:10 p.m. Jamaica time.

Alvin Green and Kegan Campbell are down to contest the Semi-Finals of the Men’s 400 metres.

Green runs in the Semi-Final One at 12:40 in the afternoon, while Campbell competes in Semi-Final Two at 12:47.

Jamaica men’s basketball team and the squash team will also in be action on the day.

In the men’s basketball competition, Jamaica will play Cuba in their second Group A preliminary round game at the Benito Juarez Auditorium.

In the squash competition, Jamaica will feature in three quarter-final matches.

Jamaica and Colombia will clash in women’s double action, followed by Jamaica playing Guatemala in men’s doubles.

The other match features Jamaica against Cayman Islands in mixed doubles.
