Gleaner journalists cop 17 National Journalism Awards

The Gleaner continued its dominance of the annual National Journalism Awards winning 17 of the 25 awards that were up for grabs this year.



The newspaper won 14 awards last year and 12 the previous year.



Sunday Gleaner reporter Ryon Jones and contributing Editor Petre Williams Raynor each won two awards during the Press Association of Jamaica's banquet held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.



Jones copped the President’s Award for investigative journalism and the UNICEF Media Award for excellence in reporting on children’s issues.



Williams-Raynor won the National Housing Trust’s Excellence in Journalism Award for her reporting on housing and sustainable development as well as the Excellence in Tourism and Environment Reporting Award.
