The Meteorological Service has issued‎ a‎ flash flood watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of the eastern parishes of St Mary, Portland, St Thomas, St Catherine, Kingston and St Andrew.

A flash flood watch means flash flooding is possible.

Residents are therefore advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further news releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.

The flash flood wa‎tch will remain in ef‎fect until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow.

In the meantime, a cold front, which has been influencing weather conditions across Jamaica, has become stationary just east of the island.

The Met Service says light to moderate showers; heavy at times, will continue to affect eastern parishes especially St. Mary, Portland and St. Thomas tonight and into Sunday morning.

‎Sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms because of gusty winds.

Fishers and other marine interests should exercise caution.‎
