French woman arrested on drug charges, booked for court Tuesday

A French woman who allegedly attempted to leave Jamaica with half pound of cocaine hidden in deodorant and powder containers is to appear before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on several drug charges.

She has been identified as 33-year-old musician Emillie Legros.

The police’s Corporate Communications Unit says Legros has been charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act and is to appear in court on Tuesday.

The Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division reports that she turned up at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James on Wednesday and checked in for a flight destined for Brussels.

The police say during the screening of her luggage, some irregularities were detected and during a search, three bottles of deodorant and a bottle of powder were found to contain cocaine.

According to the police, the drug has an estimated street value of J$350,000.
