Director of communications at the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Karl Angell, confirmed late Thursday evening that former Pakistan cricket team coach Bob Woolmer was murdered.

The former Pakistan coach was found unconscious in his room at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Sunday morning at about 10:30.

From then police were busy trying to ascertain the reason for the former England Test cricketer’s death. However, news broke on Wednesday that Woolmer\'s body had marks on the throat and that bones in the lower part of his face were broken, which led police to suspect strangulation.

At Thursday’s press conference, Angell said: “The pathologist report states that Mr. Woolmer’s death was due to asphyxia as a result of manual strangulation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields, who was in attendance at the press conference, added, “I would like for the killer(s) to turn themselves in, while at the same time asking anyone with information to contact the police.
