Bails extended for St James cops on corruption charges

Published:Thursday | December 4, 2014 | 12:00 AM

The seven St James policemen who allegedly accepted money from a businessman in exchange for them not prosecuting him on ganja charges last November have received extensions to their bails.

Charged with extortion, corruptly soliciting money, corruptly accepting money, and aiding and abetting are Constables Alman Fletcher, Delroy Brown, Marvin Campbell, Devon Bernard, Dwayne Lynch, Paul Williams, and Tajay Allen.

The accused reappeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday when the case was again mentioned.

The court was informed that the prosecution’s case-file was still incomplete.

As a result, the case was set for mention on February 4, 2015.
