Loud noise forcing closure of Negril hotels

Published:Friday | December 5, 2014 | 12:54 PM

Chairman of Couples Resorts, Lee Issa, says several hoteliers have been forced to close their properties because loud music from weekly parties in Negril, Westmoreland has been affecting their businesses.

Speaking on Independent Talk on Power 106 FM this morning, Issa said noise pollution has become a serious threat to hotels in the town.

He said some boutique hotels located close to entertainment venues have found it difficult to satisfy guests who are in search of a tranquil environment while on vacation.

According to Issa, while there are rules regarding how music can be played, it is very difficult for the authorities to police.

He now wants the authorities take a serious look at the matter.
