KINGSTON, Jamaica:

Additional police personnel are to be deployed across Jamaica as the Police High Command seeks to make communities safer during the Christmas season.

A release from the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force says the police will also be carrying out more road blocks, spot checks and targeted operations to deter criminal activities which normally increase during the festive season.

It says the Police will also intensify their efforts to capture wanted men and to pursue those responsible for serious crimes including murder.

The High Command says the extraordinary deployment of cops will continue until the end of the year.
