SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth:
The St Elizabeth Circuit Court has extended bail for an 84-year-old man who pleaded guilty to the charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Bertie Griffiths is to return to court on December 15 for sentencing.
Griffiths, who pleaded guilty in the St Elizabeth Circuit Court on November 4, was arrested and charged in September after he attempted to attend the Balaclava Resident Magistrate's Court with an illegal firearm.
The weapon was found when Griffiths was searched on trying to enter the court.
The gun contained one live round.
Griffiths was expected to be sentenced today following a psychiatric evaluation.
However, this morning the court learned that the evaluation was not conducted.
As a result, the matter has been transferred to the Home Circuit Court where Griffiths will be sentenced.
