Parliament's special joint select committee meeting

The joint select committee established by Parliament to examine the proposed changes to the Road Traffic Act is now meeting to continue their deliberations.

Today’s special sitting comes as the committee seeks to complete its work before year end.

At news time committee members were engaged in a spirited debate on the term careless, reckless and dangerous driving, as used in the proposed legislation.

Some members have argued that the term lacked specificity.
