CRICKET: Jamaica Franchise beat Leewards by four wickets

Jamaica Franchise defeated Leeward Islands Hurricanes by four wickets on the final day of their fourth round match in the WICB Professional Cricket League at Sabina Park today.

Set 195 to win, Jamaica Franchise reached the victory target before the lunch break after resuming the day 35 runs behind on 160 for four.

On their way to the victory target, Jamaica Franchise lost both overnight batsmen off the bowling of Colin Hamer.

Opener John Campbell went for 69 after adding just three to his overnight score, while Dave Bernard Jr was dismissed for 50 after resuming on 33.

With the victory, Jamaica Franchise have moved atop the points’ table.

Final scores in the match: Jamaica 222 and 195 for six; Leeward Islands Hurricanes 103 and 313.

Over at Arnos Vale, Windward Islands Volcanoes, set a victory target of 207 by Barbados Pride, were 58 for one at the lunch interval.

They need another 149 runs for victory with nine wickets in hand.

Earlier, Barbados Pride were bowled out for 128 in their second innings after resuming the day on 93 for five.

Scores in that match so far: Barbados 352 and 128; Windwards 274 and 58 for one at lunch.

Over at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, trailing Guyana Jaguars by 294 on first innings, are 162 for six in the post lunch session

The Red Force, who were 58 for four overnight, need a further 132 runs to make Guyana Jaguars bat again.

Scores in that match are: Trinidad and Tobago 198 and 162 for six in the post lunch session; Guyana 492 for eight declared.
