Church group concerned about Tivoli Enquiry

Published:Tuesday | December 9, 2014 | 1:45 PM

The Independent Churches of Jamaica has released a statement saying it is appalled at the numbness and insensitivity with which the lawyers representing the JDF, JCF and the government have approached the inquiry.

Last week, there similar criticisms with the Commission chairman, Sir David Simmons, on one occasion intervening to pose questions to a witness who had refused to answer a question from a police attorney.

The Independent Churches of Jamaica says the Inquiry got off to an unexpected and disappointing start.

It says it appears that victims of the operation were being victimised all over again.

According to the church group, the State must now make every effort to bring healing and restoration to a community that has experienced much suffering.
