Mother pleads guilty to killing two-year-old son
A mentally challenged woman, accused of killing her son, pleaded guilty to manslaughter when she appeared in the St Thomas Circuit Court on Wednesday.
Forty-three-year-old Selvalyn Bowen, of Albion, St Thomas, changed her not guilty plea and admitted culpability in the death of her two-year-old son, Donald Davis.
The toddler's body was found on a footpath in Albion on March 17, 2010, shortly after he and his mother left her father's home.
It is alleged that Bowen used a piece of electrical cord to strangle the child and dumped his body along the path.
She is expected to return to court on December 18, where she will be sentenced.
