FOOTBALL: Cavalier looking to rebound against Barbican in Monday Night fixture

Published:Monday | December 15, 2014 | 12:57 PM

Cavalier will try to rebound from their mid-week defeat when they host newcomers Barbican in another edition of Red Stripe Premier League Monday Night football today.

The match will be played at the Stadium East field, beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Cavalier, who led the competition in the early stages, are now in fifth place following a 1-0 defeat against Sporting Central on Wednesday.

Victory today would put them in fourth spot, just two behind joint second place teams Montego Bay United, the defending champions, and Arnett Gardens.

Barbican are coming off a victory, which could inspired them today.

That victory was their third from 13 games and it pushed them out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Reno ended their four-game losing streak following a late 2-2 draw against visitors Harbour View yesterday at STETHS.

Leaders Waterhouse were also held to a draw at home.

They shared points with second-from-the-bottom side Humble Lion in a 1-1 draw at the Drewsland Stadium.

Despite the draw, Waterhouse remained two points ahead, as second place Montego Bay United battled to a 1-1 away draw against bottom place Boys’ Town at Collie Smith Drive.

In other games yesterday, Arnett Gardens outscored Tivoli Gardens 3-2 at the Edward Seaga Stadium and Rivoli United beat Sporting Central 4-3 at Juici Park in Clarendon.
