JPS working to restore power to sections of St Mary

Published:Tuesday | December 16, 2014 | 10:31 AM

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says it will this morning resume efforts to restore power to sections of St Mary currently experiencing an outage.

The JPS says the outage is due to a tree falling on a line causing damage to the distribution system in the area.

The affected areas include Goshen, Gayle, Rose Street, Halifax, Lucky Hill, Jeffery Town, Hyatt Hill, Governors Pen, Barclay's Town, Pembroke Hall, Bagnol and surrounding areas and all roads leading off.

Last night the JPS said the efforts of its work crews to restore the power supply were being hampered by continuous heavy rainfall and the White River overflowing its banks.

It says these two factors have made access to the location impossible and forced the crew to stop working.

However, the JPS says crew members will resume their efforts this morning to complete the repairs and restore the power supply to the affected areas in the shortest time possible.
