Newly appointed One-Day International (ODI) captain Jason Holder says West Indies need to build a momentum going into the ICC Cricket World Cup next year.

The Barbadian, who on Saturday replaced Dwayne Bravo as captain, would like the momentum to begin in the upcoming ODI series against hosts South Africa.

The Cricket World Cup will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29, 2015.

Holder, a first bowling all-rounder, will have his first assignment as captain on January 16 in Durban when

West Indies meet South Africa in the first of five ODI matches.

West Indies are ranked eighth in the world in ODIs, with only Bangladesh and Zimbabwe behind them.
