National security ministry launches holiday peace campaign
The Ministry of National Security has launched a campaign to maintain peace in vulnerable and volatile communities throughout the holiday season.
The campaign targets communities in a number of parishes, including St Catherine, Clarendon, St James, Kingston and St Andrew.
Speaking with JIS News, Minister of National Security, Peter Bunting, said the campaign involves a series of media advertisements which highlight testimonials from persons in communities.
Bunting explains that the aim is to get residents to support the peace initiative.
He says the initiative will also see members of the National Security team visiting a number of communities and hosting one-day football matches, community cookouts and concerts.
The national security minister says this will help to boost police-community relations.
