Leader of Guyana’s Opposition, David Granger says in an APNU administration, not only would every teacher be given a lap-top computer but teachers would be the best paid public servants in the country.

He made the statement in a meeting held with executives of the Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) recently.

A release from APNU said the GTU team briefed representatives of the party on the state of education in Guyana and the challenges facing the nation’s teachers.

The two sides also reportedly discussed a range of issues of importance to the education sector.

This included the need for improved facilities, salaries and concessions, better training for teachers, the need for school buses and boats, and the need for more vocational and technical education capacity.
