Canadian police are investigating the deaths of nine people whose bodies were found in three separate but linked crime scenes.

One of those killed is believed to have been the shooter.

The homicides took place in Edmonton, a city of nearly one million people in the western province of Alberta.

Seven of those killed were found shot dead last night in a north Edmonton home.

Police Chief Rod Knecht confirmed two of the victims were “very young” children – a boy and a girl.

A woman’s body was found in a separate house in the southwest of the city and the body of a man, believed to be the shooter, was discovered in Fort Saskatchewan.
