The Custos of Trelawny, Paul Muschett, is urging the police to conduct a speedy investigation into the New Year's Eve murder of 79-year-old retired nurse, Hyancinth Hayden.

He says the parish is still in shock over the incident.

Hayden was killed at her Green Park home near Bounty Hall.

Her body was discovered in the kitchen by her husband on his return from a shop.

Hayden, a former matron at the Falmouth Hospital, was stabbed multiple times.

Custos Muschett is hailing the deceased woman as a community person who remained active long after her retirement.

The police have not announced any leads into the murder probe.

Hayden lived in England for several years before returning to Jamaica.

Residents of Bounty Hall have described her as a woman of substance with a golden heart, who was always willing to help others.
