A People's National Party (PNP) councillor is being questioned by police investigators.

Head of the St Thomas Police, Superintendent Charmaine Shand, has confirmed that the councillor is being interviewed in the presence of his attorney in relation to allegations of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Superintendent Shand also confirmed that the allegations against the councillor are in relation to a child molestation case against another individual.

She says the councillor is assisting the police with their investigation in the matter.

Shand says at the end of the interview a case file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutors for a ruling.
