I will not apologise for questioning Shand's appointment, says St Thomas councillor
People’s National Party (PNP) Councillor for the Yallahs Division, Constantine Bogle, says he will not apologise for questioning the appointment of Acting Commander for the St Thomas police, Deputy Superintendent Charmaine Shand.
Bogle is insisting that she should be removed from the post.
Last week, there were heated discussions during the meeting of the St Thomas Parish Council with DSP Shand being accused of victimising People’s National Party councillors.
The accusation followed an incident last Wednesday in which a PNP councilor was arrested and subsequently released by the St Thomas police.
Police groups have come out in support of DSP Shand calling the conduct of the Concillor Bogle and his colleagues rude and in poor taste.
However, the resolute Yallahs councillor maintains that the acting commander for St Thomas is not fit to hold the post.
According to Councillor Bogle, she lacks the qualifications and leadership qualities to lead the division.
Councillor Bogle is again calling for the Police High Command to launch an investigation into her appointment as Acting Commander for the St Thomas police.
