A 35-year-old taxi operator has been killed while a female passenger has been hospitalised in serious condition following a motor vehicle crash this morning.

The police say the driver, David Wynter, was apparently speeding when he crashed in 19 Miles, May Pen, Clarendon early this morning.

The police say about 6.30 a.m., Wynter, of Bannister, Old Harbour, St. Catherine was heading from May Pen to Old Harbour when the car hit a median.

He lost control of the car which then crashed into a shop.

Wynter was pronounced dead at hospital.

"Our investigation is still going on, but this is a classic case of speeding," a police investigator at the May Pen Police station said.
