Police investigators say the shooting death of a policewoman at her home in Spanish Town, St Catherine may be a case of murder-suicide.
The dead woman has since been identified as 28-year-old Pagiet Davie, who was a police Corporal attached to the Flying Squad.
She was reportedly shot and killed by her common law husband who has been identified as 28-year-old Sheldon Doufe.
The police say preliminary investigations indicate that the man used the policewoman’s service weapon to shoot her and then turned the gun on himself.
The attack happened in front of the couple's three-year-old son who was found unharmed.
The police say they were alerted about the incident after residents said they heard explosions coming from the female corporal's house.
They say a team was dispatched to the premises and on their arrival both individuals were found with gunshot wounds.
They were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, Head of the St Catherine North Division, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth, has expressed sadness at the incident.
SSP Nesbeth says the police are offering counselling support to the grieving family.
