JPS pleased with court ruling, CURE wants to appeal

Published:Friday | January 16, 2015 | 1:41 PM

President and Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS), Kelly Tomblin, says the company is pleased with the decision of the appeals court.

Tomblin says the JPS has always maintained that it was granted a valid licence to operate by the government.

She says it’s unfortunate that the matter had to go to court.

Meanwhile, co-founder of CURE, Richard Crawford, says the appeals court’s ruling failed to address critical issues related to electricity generation in the country.

Crawford says the dispute remains unresolved and the lobby group intends to take the matter to a higher court.
