INDECOM investigating Beechwood Avenue shooting

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man on Beechwood Avenue, in Kingston early this morning.



It is reported that shortly after 3 a.m., officers attached to the Half-Way Tree police station were involved in a gun battle with occupants of a motorcar.



The police team was reportedly patrolling the area when the shoot-out occurred.



According to the police, following the gun battle, an occupant of the motorcar was shot and injured.



It is understood that while the police were taking the injured man to the hospital, they came under fire again from occupants in the motorcar



A browning pistol was allegedly recovered in the incident.



According to INDECOM a team of investigators and forensic examiners were on the scene of the incident at 4:30 a.m.



The scene was processed by the forensic examiners and the police officers interviewed and served with notices to furnish the Commission with their account of the incident.



INDECOM says the concerned officers' weapons were also taken out of circulation for submission to the Government Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
