INDECOM investigating Job Lane shooting

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of a civilian in Job Lane, Spanish Town yesterday afternoon.



The dead man has been identified as Akeem Henry, also called Oshane, a construction worker and coal miner from the area.



The police have reported that they were in the area based on information they received that gunmen were at a house at 40A Job Lane.



They say when they got to the house a gun battle ensued between them and a group of men following which one man was shot and injured.



He was later taken to the Spanish Town hospital where he was pronounced dead.

They say no fire arms were recovered.



However, it was reported that one of the five concerned officers received minor injuries to one of his hands in the incident.



INDECOM says its team has processed the scene and the body and the police officers are to interviewed.



INDECOM also says the weapons used by the police will also be taken out of circulation and packaged for transport to the Government Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
